Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on December 17, 2022 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred ninety-seventh day of the Russian large-scale invasion has begun.

Over the past day, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks by occupiers in more than 20 populated areas. Among them are Ploschan'ka, Chervonopopivka, Bihorivka in Luhansk Oblast and Bakhmut, Opitne, Zelenopolya, Andriyivka, Mariinka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast.

At the same time, Russian aggressors launched a massive missile strike on civilian and energy infrastructure of our country. In total, the enemy fired 98 missiles and carried out over 65 shelling with multiple rocket launchers.

The threat of air and missile strikes by the enemy against critical infrastructure remains throughout Ukraine's territory.

On the Volynian and Polesian Directions there have been no significant changes in the situation, signs of forming offensive groupings by the enemy have not been detected.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky Directions occupiers shelled with artillery areas of populated places such as Hoi Chernihiv Oblast; Havrylivka Sloboda, Seredyna-Buda, Yastrubyne and Kynratiwka in Sumy region; Strilecha, Staritsia, Ambarne, Vilkuvatka, Dvorichna and Krasne in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupyansk Direction artillery influence was felt in areas of Synkivka, Orlyanka, Tabayivka, Berestevo and Vishnevyye in Kharkiv Oblast and Volodymyrivka and Stelekhivka — Luhansk.

On the Lyman Direction the enemy carried out shelling of positions of our troops near Makieyivka, Ploschan'ka, Chervonopopivka, Dibriv and Girske in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut and Avdiivsky Directions the enemy shelled areas around more than 25 populated places. Among them are Verkhnyokamyans'ke, Spirene, Bihorivka, Vesele, Solodar, Bakhmutseve, Bakhmut, Opitne, Zalizne, Mariinka and Perevomaysk in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Novopavlivsky Direction the enemy inflicted artillery damage around populated places such as Bogoyavlenska, Neskuhne, Prechystivka and Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson Directions the enemy continues to destroy civilian infrastructure of populated places along the right bank of the Dnipro River with artillery fire. Over 35 populated places were shelled, including Plavni, Hulyaypole, Dorozhnyanka, Olhyvsko and Nikopol in Zaporizhzhya Oblast and Chornobaivka, Antonivka, Kherson and Mylove on the Kherson region.

The enemy is redeploying separate units and withdrawing part of its troops from Kakhovka and Nova Kakhovka in Kherson Oblast to the area of populated place Nizhni Syrohozy. Among local residents, military servicemen are spreading information that Kakhivka will be left by Russian forces until the end of this year, so loyal locals are being offered to move to temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea.

In Luhansk Oblast, occupiers continue to exert pressure on local businesses and force them to re-register their business under Russian Federation law.

Units of the Ukrainian rocket forces and artillery over the past day inflicted damage on five areas of personnel concentration, one command post and an ammunition depot of the enemy.
