President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about the necessity for parliaments of states — NATO members to adopt a decision recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and reminding people of the ninth anniversary of the start of the Revolution of Dignity.
"I wish you good health, dear Ukrainians!
Firstly, I want to say that today is a professional holiday for our paratroopers — the Day of Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
I have an appropriate gift. The guys handed it over and asked me to wear it. I do so with pleasure!
In particular, this is the day of the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslavsky Brigade, the 80th Separate Assault Brigade, the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade and the 95th Separate Assault Brigade, which distinguished themselves in liberating Kharkivshchyna and other territories.
This is the day of the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade, which participated in liberating Kherson and occupied territories of Left-Bank Ukraine. The day of the 79th Separate Assault Brigade, which heroically defends our country on Luhansk and Donetsk lands.
This is the day of units of the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion, which participated in liberating Zhytomyrshchyna and Kyivshchyna together with other airborne assault troops units.
The day of soldiers of the 148th Separate Artillery Battery, who daily accurately "minus" the enemy on the most dangerous sections of the front line.
This is the day of the 71st Separate Jager Brigade, which became part of airborne assault troops not long ago but has already made a good impression.
I thank you all, soldiers! I thank all Ukrainian paratroopers!
In the morning in the White Hall of Heroes at Mariinsky Palace, I had the honor to present awards on the professional holiday day to the best fighters. I handed over "Golden Star" orders to the relatives of our heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine.
Our airborne assault troops, like all Ukrainian Armed Forces, pay an extraordinarily high price so that our people can preserve their freedom. Thousands of Ukrainians and Ukrainian women have died in battles for our country. We must always remember them. We must always honor their bravery and self-sacrifice.
Today I spoke about Ukraine's contribution to the defense of freedom and European values in an address to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
I called on Alliance countries to take concrete actions towards implementing the Ukrainian peace formula, which can reliably guarantee peace and justice for Ukraine and the entire Euro-Atlantic community.
And I also called all parliaments of NATO member states finally to adopt a decision recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. I believe that gradually we will reach this result — exactly so Russia will be perceived in the world. Exactly as it has become. A state sponsor of terrorism.
And I thank all members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly who today adopted the corresponding resolution to confirm this and other positions of ours.
Today, I spoke with President of France Emmanuel Macron about implementing several points of our peace formula. Specifically — about radiation safety and the situation at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, as well as about energy security for Ukraine and Europe.
We are working to ensure compliance with the IAEA mandate regarding cessation of any hostile activity against Ukrainian nuclear facilities. And it is extremely important that Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant be demilitarized. Russia must withdraw all its fighters from there and stop shelling the plant.
I thank Mr President Macron for his readiness to support the protection of our energy objects. We are also doing everything possible so that the conference on Ukraine's reconstruction and implementation of our Fast Recovery Plan, in which France is ready to take a leadership role, will be as effective as possible.
Today, our power engineers had to apply not only stabilization electricity cuts but also unplanned ones. This was caused by higher consumption levels than the country can provide at this time.
Therefore, I would like now to address all representatives of local authorities and communities: please do not stop communicating about rational electricity consumption.
Of course, power engineers, communal workers, rescuers and everyone involved are working at maximum capacity. But the systemic damage our energy system has suffered from Russian terrorist attacks is so significant that all our people and businesses should be very thrifty and distribute consumption by hours of the day.
As of this evening, a particularly difficult situation exists in Kyiv and the region, as well as on Vinnytsia, Sumy, Ternopil, Cherkasy, Odesa regions and some other cities and districts.
Please try to limit personal electricity use especially in those regions where daily challenges are most acute, and particularly during peak consumption hours. Of course, a very thrifty approach is also needed in public places.
And one more thing.
Today marks the ninth anniversary of the start of the Maidan — Revolution of Dignity. Ninth... But freedom and dignity for the Ukrainian people have been around for over a thousand years. It is worth remembering this.
There were many threats to our people's freedom and even to the existence of Ukrainians. But the people went through it all. And now we, together with you, have an historic opportunity to forever protect Ukrainian will.
I believe this is what will happen.
I thank everyone who supports our country! I thank everyone who fights and works for Ukraine! Eternal glory and honor to all those who gave their lives for freedom for our people!
Glory to Ukraine!"
