The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has accepted a lawsuit by the Ukrainian Football Association regarding compensation for material damages inflicted on Ukrainian football since the aggression against our country by Russian occupiers. This was announced by President of the UAF, UEFA Executive Committee member Andriy Pavelko.

"This is a serious success for our football community in the pursuit of holding the aggressor accountable! As per official statistics, ECHR rejects cases against Russia in 90-95% of instances. Therefore, the work done by the UAF team together with Ukrainian and foreign lawyers, regional associations, and clubs was carried out at the highest quality level. Thank you to everyone who helped us prepare the lawsuit! A lawsuit that for the first time, sadly, combines the horrors of war and football," — said the head of the UAF.

According to him, achieving the first important result in Ukraine's football struggle against the aggressor was possible thanks to the unity of the entire Ukrainian football community. "Parallel to constant shelling, evacuation, and active assistance to soldiers, medics, and forced migrants, representatives of the football family gathered and systematized necessary information that was later professionally processed and became the basis for the lawsuit to the ECHR. The military aggression by Russia continues, so we will continue updating information about inflicted damages and submitting it to the ECHR," — informed Andriy Pavelko.

The President of the UAF emphasized that seeking accountability from the aggressor is primarily important in honor of the memory of those who died among representatives of our country's football community and supporting their families.
