"Ukraine will contribute to the joint cause, just like other countries. How many matches it will take on and where they will be held is still undecided, but Ukraine's involvement in the 2030 World Cup campaign is interesting and symbolic. This will be a World Cup for peace. Football — against war," said the UEFA President.
Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) President, UEFA Executive Committee member Andriy Pavelko, who recently in Nyon conducted sessions of the UEFA Legal Committee as deputy chairman where various directions of cooperation with CONMEBOL were discussed, noted:
"Thanks to Ukraine's participation in preparing for the 2030 World Cup, we will continue to unite around the entire civilized world. We will continue to speak openly about the war on the highest international platforms to stop it as soon as possible. Stopping the war and saving Ukraine is our common victory!
At this stage, it is extremely important for us to hear and see comprehensive support from foreign colleagues for our country. Thanks to the great support of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, despite the war, during the war, and against the war, we have revived the Ukrainian championship. Our football has united millions of fans, made us even more united, stronger, and unconquerable. And numerous charitable football events help Ukrainians raise funds to support soldiers, displaced families, treat children injured in the war, and their rehabilitation. This is a real and daily contribution of football against war and its horrific consequences in Ukraine."
