The official FIFA website has published the calendar of football matches for men's and women's national teams at the 2024 Olympic Games.
In the men’s tournament, 16 teams will compete for an Olympic gold medal, while in the women’s tournament there are 12. The men start on July 24, 2024, with a match in Marseille (kickoff at 10 PM Kyiv time), and the women begin on July 25 with a game in Lyon (also starting at 10 PM Kyiv time).
Traditionally, the men's final has closed the football program at previous Olympic Games, but in France for the first time in history it will be the women’s final that concludes the competition. The women’s final is scheduled for August 10, 2024, while the men’s final will take place on August 9. Both finals are set to be held at the "Parc des Princes" stadium in Paris. Matches for bronze medals will be played in Nantes and Lyon for men and women respectively. Semi-finals will be held in Lyon and Marseille, with each city hosting two matches — one women’s and one men’s.
Moreover, for the first time during the entire tournament, there won't be double headers for women; only one match per day will take place.
According to the schedule, football competitions at the 2024 Olympics will be hosted by seven cities. In addition to Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, and Saint-Étienne are also on the list.
Ukraine has a chance to qualify for the men's tournament at the 2024 Olympics. To do so, Ukraine’s under-21 team must finish in the top three (or top four if France qualifies), at Euro 2023 (U-21). As of now, their immediate task is to secure a spot at the Euros itself; they will face Slovakia in the playoff qualifiers on September 23 and 27 in the playoffs.
Qualification for the women's tournament from UEFA will be based on the final stage of the Euro 2023, which Ukraine’s national team has unfortunately already lost its chance to reach.
