Goalkeeper of Donetsk's "Shakhtar" and Ukraine national team Andriy Pyatov commented on the process of preparing the national team for the match against Scotland.

Players of our national team continue to prepare in Slovenian Bled for the 1/2 final playoff match of the 2022 World Cup qualifier. Yesterday, after a 90-minute intra-squad game, the squad had a recovery day. The 22 players who participated in the scrimmage had a run and stretching exercises (stretches).

The training was commented on by "Shakhtar" goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov: "Today we have kind of a half-day off. It's good that we played a scrimmage yesterday. One team played in the style of Scotland, and another one — in our style. This was done to try to counteract the Scottish style with our own play.

The main thing is for the guys to understand where they should be positioned and how to get out from under the tough pressing of their future opponent. We are preparing for his style, and we have some small tactical setups. I won't reveal all the cards, but we work on certain moments so that we don't give Scotland any chances to score.

The team has been training here for a month now, and before the war, I was with "Shakhtar" at a camp, so it feels like one continuous gathering. There's some fatigue, but everyone understands that we have a big goal...

Before the match against Scotland, we need to put aside all external thoughts, but now we have Internet access, so we read news, call family and friends, and know about the situation in our country. So every day is different — sometimes it's normal, and sometimes you worry because rockets are flying around constantly and pose a threat even to children. But I hope everything will be fine, and we'll be well-prepared for the match."

We remind that the 1/2 final playoff qualifier match between Scotland and Ukraine will take place on June 1 in Glasgow at Hampden Park (9:45 PM).
