Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on May 22, 2022, regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

The eighty-eighth day of heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian military invasion has begun.

The enemy continues to conduct offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone.

The adversary continues to inflict rocket and air strikes on the territory of our country. Increased the intensity of using aviation with the aim of destroying critical infrastructure in populated areas within the zone of active combat operations.

On the Volynian and Polesian Directions units of the armed forces of the republic of Belarus have reinforced reconnaissance activities, noted the deployment of additional electronic warfare equipment in border regions of Gomel Oblast. The threat remains for missile and air strikes from the territory of the republic of Belarus against objects on Ukrainian territory.

On the Northern Direction the enemy continues to shell populated areas and infrastructure targets in Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Carried out shelling in the areas of the villages Boyaro-Lyachychi, Ulytsia, Bunyakine, Hrymchyach, Hreminch and Muravy.

On the Slobozhansky Direction the enemy with separate units from the 6th Combined Arms Army of the Western Military District and Baltic Fleet is conducting combat operations to hold occupied positions on the Kharkiv axis and prevent our forces from advancing to the state border.

The grouping of enemy forces is preparing for resuming offensive operations on the Slovyansky Direction. Occupants carried out artillery shelling in the areas of the villages Vyrnopillya, Dybryvne and Dolhynke.

In Belgorod Oblast the enemy deployed launchers of tactical missile complexes "Iskander-M". In addition, the adversary is building up material-technical support and repair bases.

On the Donetsk Direction occupiers are attempting to break through our defense lines and advance into administrative boundaries of Luhansk Oblast.

The enemy carried out air strikes against civilian infrastructure in the areas of the villages Vrubivka and Bakhmut.

On the Lyman Direction active combat operations were not conducted by the enemy. Carried out shelling of infrastructure targets in the areas of the towns Lyman, Ozerne, Zakitne, Dybrova and Seriyebryanka.

On the Severodonetsk Direction with the use of mortars and artillery enemy is shelling positions of the Defense Forces along the entire line of contact, concentrating efforts towards populated areas of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. The enemy conducted offensive and assault operations in the areas of the villages Oskolonivka, Purtivka, Shchedryshcheve and Smylyanynove. Counteroffensive was repelled, the enemy suffered losses and was forced to retreat to previous positions.

On the Bakhmut Direction with artillery support the enemy attempted to improve tactical situation in the areas of the villages Tripillya, Lipove and Vasilivka. Combat operations are ongoing.

On the Avdiyivsky Direction Russian occupiers suffered losses near the village of Krasnogorivka.

On the Kurakhivsky Direction the enemy conducted assault operations in the area of Mariinka, without success. Shelled Novomykhailivka and Volodymyrivka. Carried out air strikes against populated areas of Mykilske and Katerynovka.

On the Novopavlivsky and Zaporizhzhia Directions the enemy attempted to consolidate on occupied positions, shelled Defense Forces positions and civilian infrastructure.

On the South Buzky Direction active combat operations were not conducted by the enemy. Concentrated main efforts on holding occupied lines, conducting reconnaissance and engineering fortification of positions. Conducted shelling of Defense Forces positions with mortars and artillery. Building up air defense system.

On the Bessarabian Direction no changes in situation were observed.

Over the past day, nine enemy attacks were repelled on Donetsk and Luhansk Directions. Five tanks, four artillery systems, ten units of armored combat vehicles and two enemy vehicles were destroyed. Air defense units damaged one "Orlan-10" UAV.

Air defense missile units shot down two cruise missiles, while strike aviation destroyed twelve units of enemy military equipment.
