Today, our team held an open training session at the «Borussia Park» arena, meeting with children who were forced to leave Ukraine due to the war before it began.
The flight from Ljubljana to Düsseldorf, which lasted as expected for 80 minutes, passed quickly. Another 40 minutes by bus — and the team found itself on the grounds of Borussia Möchengladbach's club stadium, which impresses with its ultramodern architecture, club symbolism, and thoughtfully designed infrastructure. Everything is close here and everything is convenient. The hotel where the hosts offered to accommodate their Ukrainian guests — a neighboring complex connected by a spacious glass corridor, in which one cannot help but feel how much they are proud of their beloved club. And there it is right above all this — the Silver Salad Bowl that Borussia Möchengladbach won five times and the UEFA Cup won twice by the club. Above everything else is a sign — Willkommen im Park.

The Germans truly welcomed Ukrainians warmly and hospitably. More than half a million of our compatriots found refuge here during wartime. Before training, coaches and players from the national team met on the field with children who came from a children's home in Nikopol as well as boys who were previously enrolled in football schools in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kyiv and to whom Germany has given the opportunity to continue mastering their favorite sport. The meeting was very warm: lots of photos, autographs on balls and t-shirts, and also the chance to observe their idols throughout the entire evening session.

Head coach Oleksandr Petrakov made the training session completely open. Today at «Borussia Park», as yesterday in Bregenz, 21 players from the national team trained. In Slovenia, Viktor Zabarny remained for rehabilitation and Oleksiy Hushchylak, whose injury turned out to require two weeks of treatment. This means that Oleksiy will not be able to help the team and will soon leave the blue-and-yellow ranks.

After warm-up, which coaches traditionally include elements of competition and quick thinking, the team conducted several game series to prepare for tomorrow's match against «Borussia». As the coach said, everyone will have a chance to play tomorrow because there is no limit on substitutions in this friendly match. The match will be the first for Ukraine's national team since the start of the war and although it does not have an official status, it is important both in terms of preparation for June matches and in terms of uniting Ukrainians and supporting Ukraine's army and nation that defends Ukraine's independence and freedom. Nearly 20 thousand tickets to the game have already been sold, but there are still at least 10 thousand available seats that remain free for Ukrainians. So we look forward to a great Ukrainian gathering tomorrow at «Borussia Park».
