President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about the preparation of a very important decision regarding Ukrainian exports to the EU and about the energy blackmail by the aggressor country.
"Unbreakable people of the most courageous country!
The 63rd day of our defense is coming to an end. A day when a lot was accomplished.
Firstly, important decisions by the European Union are being finalized. The European Commission has agreed to eliminate all tariffs and quotas on Ukrainian exports for one year, as well as suspend antidumping duties.
Discussed today's proposal in detail with President Ursula von der Leyen. Thank you personally to her and all our European friends for this step.
This will allow us right now to preserve economic activity in Ukraine as much as possible, our national production. But we need to consider this decision not only in the Ukrainian context. The significant volume of our products exported to European and global markets will be a powerful anti-crisis tool.
Russia is trying to provoke a global price crisis. To start chaos on all basic markets, especially food. Ukrainian exports will help stabilize markets. Therefore, this benefits not only us but also all Europeans. Citizens of countries that may be hit by Russian destructive ambitions.
Next — more new decisions from partners to liberalize our exports.
Also negotiating with the European Union on how to increase the potential of transport corridors along our western border.
Spoke today with the President of Indonesia. Among other things, about food security. Emphasized that for millions of people in different countries, the threat of hunger will persist until Russia starts seeking peace with Ukraine. It is through this war initiated by Russia that dozens of states find themselves in conditions where they cannot be certain of stability for their people.
Thankful to Indonesia for support of territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, for an honest and responsible position during UN votes.
Also thankful for the invitation to participate in this year's G20 summit.
Had a conversation with the Prime Minister of Italy. Thanked Mr. Draghi for joining the investigation into crimes committed by Russian military personnel. Informed about the situation in conflict zones. Appreciate Italy’s support for truly effective sanctions that can stop the war.
This week, Russian leadership began a new series of energy blackmail against Europeans. The decision to cut off gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria — another argument proving that no one in Europe can expect any normal economic cooperation with Russia.
Russia considers not just gas but also any trade as weapons. Simply waiting for the moment when some or other trading channel can be used. Either to blackmail Europeans politically, or to strengthen Russian military machinery which views united Europe as a target.
The sooner everyone in Europe realizes that they cannot rely on Russia for trade, the sooner we can guarantee stability of European markets.
Today there was a meeting of Congresses of Local and Regional Authorities. The first such meeting during full-scale war. Discussed various issues. Among them, reconstruction of our country. Already working out all details so that the post-war reconstruction project can be implemented quickly and as effectively as possible.
Emphasized that we expect specific requests and proposals from local authorities. So that we can speak specifically with our partners, with the European Union, with international donors. Communities must provide all information about destroyed housing and damaged objects.
Discussed how to build and in what order, how to organize the purchase of ready-made housing. Our goal is not just to restore everything that was destroyed by occupiers. But also to solve long-standing problems such as housing shortages. So that all military personnel, rescuers, police, everyone who works for the state are provided with their own homes.
Today at the Congress heard reports on how quickly to provide shelter for displaced persons. On interaction between central and local authorities in temporarily occupied communities.
Discussed issues of territorial defense development and coordination between local authorities and law enforcement.
Want to especially support today Ukrainians in the south of our country. In Kherson, in all communities of the region, in temporarily occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Thankful to everyone who does not give up. Who protests. Who ignores occupiers and shows those marginal people who became collaborators that they have no future. That our resistance will be stronger now, that more rejection will be seen by occupiers, the sooner normal life will return to our land.
Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to beat back aggressors wherever military operations are ongoing. I am grateful to every one of our defenders who is doing everything to make Russia lose.
Mariupol, Mariinka, Popasna, Severodonetsk, Izium, Rubizhne, Dniprorodne, Melitopol and all other cities and communities currently at the epicenter of the fight for Ukraine. It is there that our people's future is being chosen. Thankful to everyone who brings us closer to victory!
Just signed decrees on honoring our heroes. 173 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were awarded state awards of Ukraine.
The title Hero of Ukraine was conferred upon Lieutenant General Serhiy Ivanovich Naiev, commander of the United Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Eternal glory to everyone who stood up for our country!
Eternal memory to all those who gave their lives for Ukraine!
Glory to Ukraine!»
