President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, reporting on enemy losses over 48 days of aggression and confirming the arrest of one of the most notorious collaborators in our country.

"Unbreakable people of the bravest country!

Do you remember how Russia boasted that they would capture Kyiv within 48 hours? Instead, Ukraine has been repelling the enemy for 48 days. It's worth remembering this today.

Remember when Russian leadership expected to see a parade of occupiers on Khreshchatyk just a few days after February 24, at the start of the invasion? Instead, they see thin lines of occupiers that our defenders send to hell every day.

In those 48 hours stretched out over 48 days, Russian army losses have reached levels higher than during the Soviet Union's ten-year war in Afghanistan. Higher than Russia’s two wars in Chechnya.

The total list of "two-hundreders" for Russia is already very close to reaching twenty thousand. Literally within days, if not tonight.

What next? 30,000 dead? 40,000?

Today in Russia, it was announced again that their so-called "special operation" is supposedly going according to plan. But honestly, no one in the world understands how such a plan could even exist.

How could there be a plan that foresees the death of tens of thousands of its own soldiers within just over a month of war? Who could have approved such a plan? And what final level of losses for their own people is acceptable to this person?

Tens or even hundreds of thousands of dead Russians?

Clearly, the number of killed Ukrainian civilians in Moscow doesn't concern anyone.

They say they are doing everything for people, for Donbas... But not even during World War II did Donbas see such cruelty in such a short time. And from whom? From Russian troops.

In Donbas, the history of the Leningrad blockade was repeated. Why? What would those who died or nearly perished during the Nazi blockade of Leningrad say about the blockade of Mariupol?

Also today came from Russia that mass killings by Russian military in Bucha are supposedly a "staged" event.

No mention yet of mass killings in Borodyanka, Hostomel, Makariv, cities and villages in Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions, on Donbas.

There are no more "stagers" in the world than there are killers in the Russian army.

Responsibility for war crimes is inevitable.

As an example, I can mention today's results of the Security Service of Ukraine.

It’s very symbolic that Medvedchuk was arrested on Cosmonautics Day.

He hid for 48 days. Finally decided to try escaping beyond our country's borders. Well, this "cosmonaut" — in a bad sense of the word — didn't get the famous "Let’s go!"

I find it particularly cynical on his part to use military camouflage. Tried to disguise himself like that. Such a "soldier." Such a "patriot."

If Medvedchuk chose for himself military uniform, he falls under the rules of wartime.

I propose Russia exchange this man for our men and women who are now in Russian captivity. So it’s important that our law enforcement agencies and military also consider such an option.

More and more evidence and other official investigation data appear about the horrific crimes of occupiers in those areas they managed to enter, unfortunately. About the inhuman cruelty of Russian soldiers towards women and children. About numerous rapes.

Not all serial rapists reach such a level of cruelty as Russian soldiers have.

We will certainly establish full truth about every one of these non-humans. No matter how much time or effort it takes, we’ll find everyone.

And let Medvedchuk be an example for you. Even a former oligarch couldn’t save himself. What to say about far simpler criminals from Russia’s depths. We will get every one of them.

We take with great seriousness yesterday's reports on the use of chemical weapons against defenders in Mariupol.

It is not possible yet to make a hundred percent conclusion about what exactly this was. It’s clear that in a besieged city, it’s impossible to conduct full investigation and complete analysis.

But considering the repeated threats of Russian propagandists regarding chemical weapons use against Mariupol defenders and considering the repeated use by Russian army of phosphorus munitions in Ukraine, the world must react now. React preventively. Because after using weapons of mass destruction any reaction afterwards will be meaningless. And it would only look like a humiliation for the democratic world.

Today in addressing parliament and the people of Lithuania, as well as all European nations, I emphasized that the sixth package of sanctions by the EU against Russia must include oil.

Enough multiplying insufficiently strong sanction packages. Eventually it will be recognized that only Europe’s refusal from Russian energy carriers and full restriction of Russian banking system can be an argument for Russian leadership to seek peace. Without this, Moscow seeks a military solution.

I also spoke today with Austrian Chancellor Nehammer who met the day before with Russia's leader. We exchanged details about that meeting.

Many like to taunt occupiers, troll their failures, level of preparation of their soldiers and poor quality of so-called "new" Russian equipment developed over the last 20 years which lags behind Soviet standards. And this is right. This is fair.

But at the same time we must understand that not all Russian tanks are silent in the field. Not all enemy soldiers simply flee from battlefields. And not all of them are stringers who can’t properly hold weapons.

This doesn't mean that we should fear them.

It means that we shouldn’t underestimate the merits of our fighters, our army.

And I once again want to thank them all, our defenders and defenderesses. I don’t tire of doing this. And I want us not to tire saying them what’s most important: We believe in you. We are proud of you. We admire you.

We are proud of all our people who come out on the streets despite occupation, protest, drive away occupiers as they can. Proud of every one of us!

That’s why it's important to always emphasize: if our cities and villages are occupied, this is only temporary. And they will be liberated.

They will be freed by our heroes. Not just with the power of weapons but also with the power of spirit.

Such a spirit that Ukrainians and Ukrainian women almost daily demonstrate in cities and villages of southern Ukraine. In those areas which Russian troops temporarily occupied and which our army has not yet liberated.

Whatever it is, one must stand against occupiers. Difficult, I know. One must fight. Protest. Protect national sovereignty.

And above all — punish collaborators. Let them form their "HNR" somewhere in Khakassia and not in our native Ukrainian Kherson.

The future of Ukraine depends directly on the strength of our resistance in all its forms.

The future of all of us. Of every city, every village.

And I am grateful to everyone who realizes this. Who doesn’t stop resisting even when it seems that the result is very far away. Because the darkest hour always comes before dawn.

I want to say today separately to those heroes for whom it’s especially hard. To those defending Mariupol. The Marine Battalion of 36th Marine Brigade, Special Purpose Detachment "Azov," 12th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Border Service units, volunteers from "Right Sector." 555th Military Hospital and police officers.

To all military fighting in Odesa region, defending Kharkiv, Kharkiv region, to all military formations defending Zaporizhzhia region, the south. I personally thank Brigades 92nd, 93rd, and 95th. And General Naiev personally. To everyone infinitely grateful! In the name of all Ukrainians.

A few minutes ago I signed three decrees. State awards were given to 419 servicemen of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Of them, 72 posthumously.

Also state awards were given to 30 servicemen of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine.

The title Hero of Ukraine was awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Mykolaiovych Vasyliiev, commander of a rocket division of the 19th Rocket Brigade. Posthumously.

Eternal glory to all our heroes!

Eternal memory to everyone who died for Ukraine!

Inevitable punishment for all our enemies.

Glory to Ukraine!»
