"Ukrainians! Ukrainian women!"
Strong people of an unbreakable country!
Another day has passed in our defense. Another day among many, which gradually, painfully but steadily bring us closer to peace. To a peace that no one will give us. We must be very clear about this with you all. For there are no entities in the world capable of stopping wars and granting peace.
The global security architecture has proven inadequate. Peace for us will not be the result of any decisions by our enemy somewhere in Moscow. Do not build empty hopes that they will simply leave our land. We can only choose peace. We can earn it through hard battles and simultaneously—through negotiations, and simultaneously—in daily energy work.
Therefore, each one of us must continue to do everything we can. In all directions. To support our Armed Forces. For the preservation and development of economic activity in Ukraine—as much as is possible now.
To support all our citizens... Wherever they are, whoever they are.
And even in peacetime, a warm word supports life forces. But in wartime, it becomes even more important. When we may not know what someone is going through. What loss. What help they need. But we can see that someone needs support. Needs to be heard. Needs at least to feel understood. Needs some kind of warmth and support for their life. This must be done. We must pay attention to everyone around us!
When a nation is defending itself in a war of annihilation, when the question is one of life or death for millions, nothing is unimportant. No moment is insignificant. Everything matters. And each person can contribute to victory for all. Some—with weapons in hand. Others—at work. And some—with warm words and help at the right moment.
So do everything you can so that we stand together in this war for our freedom, for our independence. So that Ukraine lives.
Thanks to such sincere and constant support of each other, thanks to solidarity and care for the neighbor, a nation can withstand the most difficult trials. And expel an enemy many times larger.
Our defenders continue to retake control over communities in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. More Ukrainian national flags are appearing in areas that were temporarily occupied.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not let occupiers go without a fight. They deliver fire strikes. They destroy everyone within our reach.
We are strengthening our defense on the eastern front and in Donbas. Aware that the enemy has reserves for increasing pressure from the east.
What is the goal of Russian troops? To seize both Donbas and southern Ukraine. What is our goal? To protect ourselves, our freedom, our land, and our people.
To do everything for protection.
Our heroic Mariupol continues to hold back a significant portion of enemy forces. Thanks to this resistance, thanks to the courage and resilience of other Ukrainian cities, Ukraine has gained invaluable time. That time which allows us to break the enemy's tactics and weaken their capabilities.
Unfortunately, Ukraine still hasn't received enough modern Western anti-aircraft missile systems. Hasn't received planes. Hasn't received what partners could have provided. Could—and can!
Every Russian rocket that hits our cities and every bomb dropped on our people, our children, only adds more black ink to the history books about those who were responsible for decisions. Decisions whether or not to help Ukraine with modern weapons.
I want to thank separately the residents of our Enerhodar. Those brave Ukrainians and Ukrainian women who came out today in a demonstration to protect their city. To protect our country.
In response, the occupiers opened fire and used grenades against completely peaceful people. Who—on their land, in their right. For every injured person there will be an answer. And the Ukrainian character cannot be broken by any pressure. By no violence.
I am grateful to everyone who comes out on the streets of temporarily occupied cities. To those who are not afraid and come out. I am grateful to those who are afraid but still come out. To all who feel that without this decision to protect Ukraine and their freedom, occupiers could become entrenched.
And when people protest—and the more they protest—the harder it is for occupiers to destroy us, to destroy our freedom. This is our joint struggle! And there will be our joint victory.
I want to say a few words to some politicians and deputies of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada who completely do not understand what is happening in the hearts of our people. So much so that they have even thought about changing the national anthem. My question to these individuals: What did you accomplish in your life to earn the moral right to change the words of an anthem? Are you famous poets? Did you distinguish yourself in battles for Ukraine? Is this really the time when one can change an anthem whenever one wants?
Calm down emotions. Stop making fools of yourselves. I believe that those who authored these and similar draft laws, proposals should take up arms and go to the battlefield if they have such opportunities. Only there will you understand something.
And even if by some chance such things are voted on, my signature under such bills will not be there anyway. Do not waste time.
I want to address one more person who seems not fully aware of what is happening and being endured—not only in Ukraine but also throughout Europe. To the Prime Minister of Hungary. Who appears to be alone in Europe openly supporting Mr. Putin.
We did not ask for anything special from official Budapest. We didn't even get what others are doing! Doing it for peace. Didn't receive vital transit of military aid, didn't see moral leadership.
Didn't see any effort to stop the war! Why?
All of Europe wants peace. All of Europe does not want the battlefield to be moved from Mariupol to Budapest or from Kharkiv to Krakow, or from Chernihiv to Vilnius.
All of Europe is trying to stop the war and bring back peace. Why then does official Budapest oppose all of Europe, civilized countries? For what?
The main thing for us is the people's opinion. The Ukrainian people support the Hungarian people. The Hungarian people support the Ukrainian people. We equally value peace, we equally value freedom. It will always be so. We will always live in good neighborliness. And I am sure that our minorities should be those little things that unite us even more.
Politicians come and go. But truth remains. That's what I'm talking about—about the truth. And I always say what I think. When I talk about Hungary, I mean Hungary. And I don't need to mask my thoughts. If I have to speak about Germany, we speak about Germany. If I have to speak about some other country, I speak about that country.
If this is a war, then I call it a war, not a "special operation." If this is a threat to all of Europe, then I call it a threat to all of Europe.
This is called honesty that Mr. Orban lacks. Perhaps he lost it somewhere in contacts with Moscow.
I spoke today with the President of Colombia. Very grateful to him for support and solidarity with Ukraine. The list of countries that honestly say freedom matters, and war must stop, is expanding.
Also spoke with British Prime Minister Johnson. In detail, pleasantly. Agreed on new defense support for Ukraine. A new package. Very, very meaningful support. Also discussed strengthening sanctions against Russia. Very meaningful. Agreed on joint steps to achieve peace. Grateful to Boris for leadership! Historical leadership. I am sure of this.
Spent a large meeting today with the economic block of the Cabinet of Ministers and Office of the President. The economic front is another direction in our fight for our country, for our people.
Discussed in great detail the situation with sowing, ensuring Ukrainians with food products, securing fuel, the energy situation, the situation in key sectors of the state.
The Minister of Finance reported on the budget execution status and details of negotiations with partners regarding financial support for Ukraine.
In wartime, economic relations must remain fully controlled—no matter how difficult it is for all of us. Because this is about prospects. About what our tomorrow will be like for over 40 million Ukrainians. Participants in the meeting received clear assignments.
And finally. As usual.
Signed a decree awarding state honors to our heroes—heroes of our country. 131 servicemen of Ukraine's Armed Forces, nine posthumously.
Eternal glory to all!
Eternal glory to all who gave their lives for Ukraine!
Eternal glory to all our defenders! Eternal glory to all our defender women!
Glory to Ukraine!"
