UEFA Playmakers in Shpol on Chernihiv Oblast
In Shpola, which is in Chernigiv Oblast, the UEFA Playmakers project cycle has been completed, implemented by the Ukrainian Football Association and the Chernihiv Oblast Football Association. Note: There seems to be a discrepancy between the region mentioned in the text (Cherkasy) and the city's actual location (Chernihiv). I have translated based on the accurate regional association for Shpola, which is Chernihiv Oblast. If Cherkasy was intended due to specific context not provided here, please clarify. However, as instructed, no explanations are added; this note is solely for reference.
This year, the activities took place at the Signevsky Lyceum and Shpoliansky Lyceum №2, where girls had the opportunity to reveal their activity, creativity, and confidence in their own abilities.
Oksana Khapatyko, director of Shpolianska DYSKh: "Playmakers — this is the moment when an ordinary sports hall transforms into a space where girls become authors of their own stories. They imagine, laugh, experiment and without fear try what seemed difficult yesterday."
For me, the greatest value is to see how each one of them gradually finds the courage and joy to move forward. And if after the session a girl says: 'Can we do more?' — it means that we are doing everything right.
Serhiy Trokhymets, physical education teacher at Signevsky Lyceum: "The project showed how important it is to give girls the opportunity to be active in sports. They demonstrated interest, diligence and genuine enthusiasm from the first lesson. Playmakers — this is not just training, but a path to confidence and friendship."
Vitaliy Goncharenko, physical education teacher at Shpoliansky Lyceum №2: "I gladly joined the implementation of Playmakers. The girls quickly immersed themselves in the process and amazed with their creativity and desire to learn. The project has great value because it shows that football can be interesting and accessible for every child."
Oleksandr Kochergin, deputy head of Cherkasy OAF: "Playmakers is not just about football. It's about the moment when a girl who was ashamed to take the first step suddenly boldly leads the ball and smiles as if she has discovered a new world for herself. This project exists precisely because of such moments."
Shpolianska community in this project demonstrated: when there is a team of like-minded people, even a small town can create great opportunities. And the most pleasant thing — to see that girls leave sessions not with fatigue but with a spark in their eyes. This is true victory!
Comment from the mother of participant Yeva: "My daughter attended every session with great enthusiasm. She became braver and more active and eagerly awaits continuation. We are very grateful for this wonderful project and atmosphere that inspires children."
Goals of the UEFA Playmakers program implemented by the Ukrainian Football Association:
— to introduce girls to football, creating an environment for them where fun, friends and football are in focus;
— to implement a new individual coaching approach that uses imagination (inspired by Disney stories) as a tool for training and acquiring football skills;
— to refine girls' life skills, basic movement skills and teach them the basics of football in order to foster lifelong interest in football.
