Today, on July 21 in Nyon, Switzerland, the draw for the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League season 2025/2026 took place. The Ukrainian representative, Kyiv's "Dynamo," will start in the second qualifying round of the Champions Path, where they will play against Malta's club "Hamrun Spartans" (July 22 and July 29).
A series of first qualifying round Champions League playoff matches took place, including a match between potential second qualifying round opponents of Kyiv's «Dinamo». Thus, on July 22nd and 29th, the team led by Oleksandr Shovkovskiy will play against Malta's «Hamrun», which advanced past Lithuania's «Zalgiris» from Vilnius with a two-legged aggregate score of (0:2, 2:0) and a penalty shootout victory. The first leg will be played away.
Today's draw determined the group stage of the 2023/2024 Champions League, in which the sole Ukrainian representative in the tournament — Donetsk "Shakhtar" — participated.
In the second qualifying round match of the 2023/2024 Champions League, Polish Rakuv played against Azerbaijani Karabakh away from home. Our football player entered the field in the 61st minute of the game, which ended in a draw — 1:1. Considering that the first match was won by the Poles (3:2), they will proceed further. In the third qualifying round, the team with the Ukrainian player will face Cypriot Aris.
