After the loss in the opening match against the national team of Armenia (1:2) the blue and yellow managed two convincing victories — over Lithuania (4:1) and Czechia (5:3) — and finished second in the group, qualifying for the play-offs. In the quarter-finals, Alexander Kosenko's charges will face the winner of Group A — France.
The "tricolors" hold the sixth place in UEFA rankings and are making their second appearance at the European Championship of handball. During the group stage, the French played even with Croatia (2:2), beat Latvia (5:0) and narrowly defeated Georgia (3:1).
The head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Alexander Kosenko, commented on the preparation for today's match as follows: «We hope to repeat our previous experience. We need to take it one step at a time and not think about the final. France — is really a tough opponent for us, but we had some experience playing against them, and now we need to prepare. What we know for sure — the French are good with the ball.»
The match Ukraine vs France will take place in Riga at the same venue and is scheduled to start at 17:00 Kyiv time. The live broadcast of the game will be provided by MEGOGO platform.
