Our team qualified for the European Championship for the twelfth time in history. In January, under Alexander Kosenko's coaching, our players continued their performances in the main round of Euro-2026 qualifying. The blue and yellow team started group 1 in 2024 with victories over
Copenhagen (7:0) and Romania (2:0), and already this year they defeated Germany both away (5:3) and at home (9:0). They concluded the qualifying tournament with home victories over Copenhagen (11:1) and Romania (3:1). As a result, Ukraine's national team earned 18 points in six matches and secured a spot in the Euro-2026 final tournament, which will take place from January 20 to February 7 next year on the fields of Riga, Latvia, Kaunas, Lithuania, and Ljubljana, Slovenia.

As part of their preparation for this tournament in September, our national team played two friendly matches against Lithuania. In Jonava, under Alexander Kosenko's coaching, they first thoroughly defeated their opponents (7:0) and then secured a modest victory (5:3).

On October 24, the Euro-2026 draw for the final part of the tournament was held in Kaunas, Lithuania. Ukraine's opponents were revealed. By chance, they ended up in Group B with Lithuania, Armenia, and Czech Republic.

On November 12, our team continued their preparation for Euro-2026 by playing a friendly match against France. The blue and yellow team were stronger (3:1). On December 19-21, the Ukrainians played two matches against the reigning European champions — Portugal. In the first one in Tavira, Portugal, a draw was recorded (1:1), and in the second one our boys suffered a defeat (2:5).

It should be noted that in 2025, Ukraine's national team played nine matches — four official ones and five friendly (seven victories, one draw, one loss, goal difference 46-15). Eleven players scored goals for the team. The top scorer was Yevheniy Zhuk, who had nine goals.
