The match in Paris started with a cold shower for the hosts. On the 21st minute, Andri Gudjohnsen put Iceland ahead. However, the French did not give up and at the end of the first half, Kylian Mbappé equalized from the penalty spot.

In the second half, Didier Deschamps' team continued to dominate and on the 62nd minute, Boubakary Soumaré put France ahead. For the visitors, hope faded when Aurélien Tchouaméni was sent off in the 68th minute for a rough foul, leaving France down by one player. However, Iceland could not equalize.

Thus, the final score was 2-1 in favor of France.
