Our team started the tournament with two wins — against Albania (2:1) and Croatia (2:1). Now, however, Vladimir Pyatenko's wards are facing two games against the Czech Republic. The first of these, nominally a home game for blue-and-yellow, took place today in Polish Polesie at the Municipal Stadium.

The start of the match saw both teams on equal footing, with exchanges of shots from Basanska and Bartova. Later, one can recall an inaccurate attempt by Kalinina, as well as a header shot over the crossbar by Kozlova. Shortly after, Czech players nearly scored against Samson following a corner kick, to which our girls responded with their own decent attack ending in a missed finish from Ovdychuk.

At the beginning of the second half, Kalinina failed to score from a good position. Soon after, Samson saved our team when Krejcirikova went one-on-one with her. Then Czech players conducted several more unpleasant attacks for us. However, at the 57th minute, Ukrainians opened the score — Ovdychuk intercepted the ball and passed it forward to Kozlova, who then scored.

The final third of the game was tense. Both teams had chances, and on the 81st minute Kotrčova nearly equalized with a shot just wide of the post. But in the end our girls held onto their winning result — 1:0, securing their third win in three matches.

Their next match in the Nations League will again be against the Czech Republic. The away game for blue-and-yellow will take place on April 8th at a small town of Ustí nad Labem, Czech Republic (kick-off — 18:30 Kyiv time).
