The Ukrainian U-19 futsal team qualified for the fourth European Championship. In a very tense match, our boys defeated their arch-rival Serbia (1:0).
"I am satisfied with the performance of the national team in Serbia — both the result and the play," quotes Igor Moskvichov, head coach of the Ukrainian team, according to the press service of the AUF. "Of course, all three matches were different because we won our opponents with a significant advantage in the first two games, while the third game against the hosts was about securing a result as we planned. We didn't need to run around aimlessly or show tactical play. We needed a result that we achieved.
We analyzed the opponent well. The Serbs only play through their "pillar" — both previous and current generations of the youth national team. Therefore, we paid a lot of attention to playing against the "pillar," choosing rather large defenders such as Klimchuk and Hoshpendenko. Our game plan fully justified itself, and the result on the scoreboard.
As for the final tournament, we have already decided on 90% of the main squad, but only 12 players were allowed to be selected, while at Euro we can take 14. The boys will prove themselves, and we will observe.
Plans? We are going to the traditional friendly tournament in Poreč (Croatia), where very strong teams gather. If we manage to conduct good matches during training camps, I am confident that in Moldova we can reach the Euro final."
