Aleksandr Kosenko's wards continued their run in the main round of Euro-2026 futsal qualifiers with a home match against Germany, which took place in Chisinau, Moldova.

In December, blue-and-yellow started Group 1 with wins over Cyprus (7:0) and Romania (2:0), while on January 31 they managed to beat Germany away (5:3). Now, our team hosted the German national team in Moldova's Chisinau.

On the fourth minute, Melnyk outmaneuvered several opponents and passed to Zhuk, who opened the scoring. Shortly after, Zhuk scored his second goal from another pass by Melnyk, who again broke through a few defenders. On the 17th minute, Melnyk received the ball from Chernyavsky, showed great dribbling skills once more, and this time he scored himself.

In the first seconds of the second half, Ukraine increased their lead when Zvarych passed to Abakshin for a shot. Later on, blue-and-yellow missed several opportunities but Mikityuk scored in a counterattack from Chernyavsky's pass. Soon after, Abakshin doubled his tally by taking advantage of a cross from Zvarych. Then Abakshin assisted Farenyuk.

Then it was Zhuk’s turn, who received the ball on the flank from Mikityuk, pushed past an opponent, moved to the center and completed a hat-trick. Eugene did not stop there and scored his fourth goal at the 38th minute by accurately shooting off a pass from Mikityuk. Blue-and-yellow ended with a final score of 9:0, securing another victory in the qualifiers.

The Euro-2026 futsal championship will be the second edition after expanding the final stage from 12 to 16 teams and deciding to hold the tournament every four years instead of two.

Euro-2026 Futsal. Format

Qualification includes three stages: a preliminary round (mini-tournaments), main round (groups with home and away matches) and playoffs (home and away matches).

The tournament hosts, Latvia and Lithuania, qualified automatically for Euro-2026. Some teams started in the preliminary round while others began directly in the main round.

Main Round (December 9, 2024 — April 16, 2025)

Forty participants (34 best national teams according to the ranking as of December 2023 and six best from the preliminary round) were divided into ten groups of four teams each. Each team will play against every other in their group both home and away. The ten group winners join Latvia and Lithuania at the final stage, while eight second-placed teams will compete in the playoffs.

During the draw, national teams were divided into four pots of 10 teams each based on their coefficients as of April 18, 2024.

Playoffs (September 15—24, 2025)

The draw will take place on May 21, 2025. Eight teams will be paired into four pairs. After home and away matches, the last four participants of the final stage will be determined.

Final Tournament (January 20 — February 7, 2026)

The draw will take place on October 24, 2025. Sixteen teams will be divided into four groups. The top two from each group advance to the quarter-finals.
