Ukrainian officials set to take charge of another UEFA Champions League clash

A Ukrainian officiating team will oversee the UEFA Champions League 2024/2025 league phase match between Bayer Leverkusen (Germany) and Salzburg (Austria), scheduled to take place in Leverkusen on November 26 (kickoff at 22:00 Kyiv time).

Mykola Balakin will be the match referee, supported on the lines by Viktor Matyash and Oleksandr Berkut. Vitaliy Romanov will be the fourth official. Guillermo Cuadra Fernández, from Spain, and Valerio Marini, from Italy, will operate the VAR system.

On September 16, 1998, Vasyl Melnychuk from Simferopol was the main referee for the match between Athletic Bilbao (Spain) and Rosenborg (Norway) in Bilbao.

On November 29, 2023, a Ukrainian refereeing team, including Mykola Balakin (main referee), Oleksandr Berkut, Dmytro Zaporozhenko (assistant referees), and Yaroslav Kozyk (fourth official), officiated the match between Real Sociedad (Spain) and Salzburg (Austria).

On November 6, 2024, a Ukrainian team led by Mykola Balakin (main referee), Oleksandr Berkut, Dmytro Zaporozhenko (assistant referees), Vitaliy Romanov (fourth official), Oleksiy Derevinskyi, and Denys Shurman (VAR officials), officiated the game between Sparta Prague (Czech Republic) and Brest (France).
