From November 9 to 16, Ukraine’s U-17 team prepared for the elite qualifying round of UEFA EURO 2025 (U-17). During the camp in Rijeka, the team faced Croatia twice, suffering a narrow 1:2 defeat in the first match and securing a 0:0 draw in the second.

Upon returning home, head coach Yuriy Moroz shared his thoughts on the team’s performance:

— It was very beneficial for us to play against such a strong opponent as Croatia, - Moroz said. - I want to thank the leadership of the UAF for organizing this valuable training camp.

I’m satisfied with the team’s work, particularly with the contributions of the newcomers. The only thing I wasn’t pleased with was our performance in the first half of the opening match when we conceded two goals. However, I can confidently say that competition within the squad is growing, and we are welcoming talented players born in 2009.

As for plans, we won’t hold any more camps this year. The team has achieved its goal of reaching the elite round. We’ll begin planning after December 8, when the draw for the next stage of qualification takes place.

Standings

28 teams will compete in seven groups in League A in spring 2025 for seven spots in the final tournament, to be held in Albania in the summer. The host team automatically qualifies, although they will still participate in the qualifiers.

The remaining teams in the second round will compete in League B, aiming for spots in League A of the first qualifying stage for EURO 2027 (U-19).

It's worth noting that EURO 2024/2025 (U-17) serves as UEFA's qualifying tournament for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, featuring 48 teams in Qatar.
