This marks the second appearance for Ukraine in this tournament, having finished in fourth place in 2022. In this year’s edition, under the guidance of head coach Yuriy Klymenko, they faced Spain, the number-one ranked team in the world.

Spain dominated the first period, creating several dangerous chances. However, Ukraine opened the scoring when Yuliya Kostyuk converted a corner in the 5th minute. But just before the break, Andrea Miron equalized for Spain, making it 1:1.

In the second period, two unfortunate ricochets resulted in goals for Spain, both courtesy of Carol González. Another brilliant strike by Sara Tuí in the top corner further extended Spain's lead. In the final period, a defensive mistake led to a fifth goal by Adriana Manau. Despite some chances, Ukraine couldn’t capitalize, and Spain sealed the win with a goal from Jesse Miras.
