UEFA Youth League-2024/2025. Format

Qualification

The tournament will be adapted to the new format of UEFA's main club competitions — 36 youth teams representing clubs from the Champions League path (UEFA-2024/2025) will participate. The national champions' paths are being reformed so that winners of all UEFA member associations' youth championships will be included in the tournament (currently only 32 top associations take part).

If a club qualifies for the tournament from both the Champions League path and the national champions' path, it is automatically sent to the Champions League path. The vacated spot in the national champions' path will be filled by the second-place finisher of the corresponding competition.

The winner of the UEFA Youth League automatically qualifies for the national champions' path if they did not qualify through the Champions League path.

Initial stages

The league stage will mirror the same stage of the Champions League but will be limited to the first six matchdays (three home and three away matches).

The national champions' path tournament will consist of three rounds in a knockout format with two-legged ties (home and away). Clubs from associations with the highest ranking will start the tournament from the second round.

Knockout stage

After completing the mentioned rounds starting from the 1/16 finals, a knockout phase will be held. The winner of each tie will be determined by one match result. Clubs ranked 1—6 (Champions League path) in the 1/16 finals will play against clubs ranked 17—22. Clubs ranked 7—16 in the 1/16 finals will face teams that qualified through the national champions' path.

Clubs ranked 23 and below in the Champions League path, as well as those who lose their two-legged ties in the national champions' path, will leave the tournament. The final stage of the tournament involving four teams (semifinals and finals) will be played on neutral ground.

The 1/8-finals, 1/4-finals, and 1/2-finals pairs will be determined by a draw.
