Vladyslav Kabaiev, a midfielder for the Ukraine national team, shared his thoughts on the team's preparations for the upcoming UEFA Nations League 2024/2025 matches against Albania and Czechia.
On September 2, the Ukraine national team officially began focused preparations for their September Nations League matches. The team arrived in Prague and held their first training session, which included players who didn't have enough playing time at their clubs over the weekend and goalkeepers.
Vladyslav Kabaiev expressed his feelings about being called up to the national team.
"I don't want to say anything cliché, but I am thrilled and proud to represent my country. Even though I'm already 29 years old and the team has many young players, I still have a lot of strength and energy to contribute to our nation. I want to make our fans proud and help the team achieve the highest goals.
Getting called up to the national team is easier than securing your spot in it. That's why no one is relaxing here. Everyone is working hard to make sure this isn't their last call-up. I also want to show myself in the best possible light.
Regarding the media, of course, everyone wants to read only positive things about themselves, but with age and experience, you start to understand that a lot of negative stuff is written too. However, I once read that even negative coverage means someone watched the match and paid attention to you, and attention is always a good thing.
I am a perfectionist, and very demanding of myself. I want to assist, score, and help the team win. But I don't want to make any bold promises right now. However, I will do my best to fulfill the coach's requirements, and time will tell," said Vladyslav Kabaiev.
As a reminder, in September, the Ukraine national team will play two matches in Group B1 of the UEFA Nations League 2024/2025 in Prague. On September 7, they will host Albania at Epet Arena, and on September 10, they will play an away match against Czechia at Eden Arena.
