The head coach of the Ukrainian women's beach soccer team, Yuriy Klimenko, spoke about two training camps for the team and solving its personnel issues.
"We had two camps. The first one took place at the end of June and was a scouting camp. We looked at 16 newcomers. For example, we invited girls from Cherkasy's 'MSC Dnipro'. After that, we selected six players, while the best ones remained for the second camp, which included 18 girls. Our experienced players joined the team: Yelena Dubitska, Yulia Kostyuk, Snejana Volovenko, Anastasia Klipachenko, and Mariya Vypasnyak.
We worked very productively, played an internal match. We observed new girls and how they cooperate with veterans and among themselves, and some of them showed their potential. This year we actually need to add half the team's composition to experienced players—five or six people.
After these two camps, we had the Ukrainian championship that took place last weekend in Cherkasy. There were many interesting matches with intense competition. Six teams participated, and the champion was Kyiv's 'Servit'. The level of the games was quite good. It is worth noting the high scoring rate and increased game dynamics, which speaks to progress in women's beach soccer.
Also, we observed many girls during a pre-season camp in Kyiv. As a result, we currently have 14-15 players on whom we rely for official competitions this year. We will continue working and preparing for our trip to Portugal for Euro League-2024 qualifiers.
In addition, from August 15th to 22nd, we have planned another camp where the final composition of the national team will be determined. It is possible that we will split it into two stages: three or four days in Kyiv and three or four days in Poland. There we plan, as last year, to play a couple of friendly matches with Polish teams—of course, if Poland does not enter our qualifying group. And from there, we will head to Portugal," said Yuriy Klimenko.
We remind you that the qualification for the women's Euro League-2024 finals takes place from August 30th to September 1st in Nazaré, Portugal. The final of the Euro League will take place on September 10th–15th in Alghero, Italy.
