Kyiv Dynamo started their Champions League journey this year with a home match in the second qualifying round against Serbian Partizan.

The match took place in Lublin, Poland, at the "Arena Lublin" stadium. Under the guidance of Oleksandr Shovkovskiy, Dynamo made an excellent start, creating several dangerous moments, but it was the Serbs who opened the scoring. A careless mistake by Oleksandr Karavaev on 22 minutes in his own penalty area led to a penalty kick for Partizan, which Mateus Saltdania converted confidently.

However, Dynamo did not give up and continued attacking. Their efforts were rewarded at the 40-minute mark when Mykola Shaparenko, with one touch, directed a pass from Vladyslav Kabaev into the top corner of Aleksandar Jovanovic's goal – 1:1.

More to come. Two minutes later Volodymyr Berezko put Kyiv ahead. The ball after his shot from the corner of the penalty area hit the post and then went into the net. And just four minutes later, Oleksandr Karavaev made amends – 3:1.

After halftime, the white-and-blue continued to press, and at the 55-minute mark Vladyslav Kabaev stretched the ball almost across the entire field and finished his run with a class shot into the corner of the goal. However, shortly thereafter the opponent reminded them of their presence. On the 66th minute Mateus Saltdania completed his brace and reduced Partizan's deficit – 2:4.

And yet the last word remained with the Ukrainians. First after a wonderful free-kick by Volodymyr Berezko, the Serbian goalkeeper parried the ball to Nazar Voloshyn, who then passed it to Denys Popov, who did not miss. And in added time Oleksandr Pichalonok bested everyone on Partizan's penalty kick.

Thus, 6:2 – a wonderful victory for Kyiv Dynamo.
