The current format of the Women's Champions League looks as follows:
Format
The first round is one of two qualifying rounds before the group stage, which will begin in October with 16 teams.
These two rounds feature two paths — the Champions Path and the League Path.
Each path's first round consists of two stages played as single matches: semifinals (September 4) and finals/third-place matches (September 7).
Winners from each final (11 on the Champions Path, four on the League Path) advance to the second round where twelve group stage participants are determined.
Champions Path
Forty-three clubs — champions of associations ranked eighth and lower — will participate in this stage. Participants will be divided into 11 mini-tournaments, each featuring four teams, with one tournament having three teams.
Winners from the eleven mini-tournaments advance to the second round where they join three clubs («Roma», «Slavia» and «Hammarby») who received direct entries. In the second round, seven spots for the group stage will be contested.
League Path
Sixteen teams — runners-up from associations ranked seventh to sixteenth and third-place finishers from associations ranked first to sixth — will participate in this stage. Participants will be divided into four mini-tournaments, each featuring four teams.
Winners of the four finals advance to the second round where they join six clubs («Wolfsburg», «Manchester City», «Paris Saint-Germain», «Real Madrid», «Heksen» and «Juventus») who received direct entries. In the second round, five spots for the group stage will be contested.
