The Ukrainian national team is participating in the European Championship finals for the fourth consecutive time. In the previous three forums, our team played a total of 11 matches, winning three.

The first victory was achieved by Oleh Blokhin's wards in the debut match — at Euro 2012 — against Sweden. At that time, Andriy Shevchenko was the main hero — currently the head of the UAF, but then a star forward who was concluding his brilliant career as a footballer. After Euro 2012, he hung up his boots.

At the next continental forum, Shevchenko was an assistant to Mykhailo Fomenko, but Ukraine performed poorly, losing all three group stage matches and finishing last in the quartet (third place in the group at Euro 2012).

And at Euro 2020, which due to pandemic nuances was held in summer 2021, Shevchenko appeared as head coach of Ukraine's national team. Not only did he secure two victories but also led our team to an historic quarter-final!

In the group stage, Ukraine, just like in 2012, finished third, but thanks to the expanded number of participants for the final stage, they secured a place in the knockout round.
