The Women's Champions League-2024/2025 will be the last edition of the tournament with a group stage featuring home and away matches in a round-robin format, as the season-2025/2026 will see a new competition format for women's clubs.

Format of Play

The main stage of the competition — the group stage, featuring 16 teams. Teams will be divided into four quartets where they will play each other once at home and once away from October to December.

Winners of the top two spots qualify for the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, teams will play two matches against each other, with the final consisting of a single match taking place in Lisbon, Portugal.

Four teams receive direct entry into the group stage, while the remaining twelve places will be determined through qualification rounds within the Champions Path (seven spots) and the League Path (five spots).

Qualification for both paths will take place in a similar manner. In the first round, teams will compete in mini-tournaments, with winners advancing further. In the second round, participants will be paired up and play each other once at home and once away.

Number of Clubs from Each Association

The list of participants is based on the UEFA women's club ranking as of the end of the 2022/2023 season, where Ukraine ranked 14th.

Top-6 associations in the ranking — France, Germany, Spain, England, Italy and Sweden — will enter three teams each.

The next ten associations — Czech Republic, Denmark, Portugal, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Austria, Ukraine, Iceland, Belarus — will send two teams each.

Other associations will be represented by one team.

Stages from Which Teams Will Start the Tournament

The winner of the 2024 Champions League and champions of three top associations (France, Germany, Spain) will qualify directly for the group stage. If the champions of France, Germany or Spain have already qualified as title holders, then the fourth association (England) automatically qualifies.

Champions from other associations will start in the Champions Path qualification. Champions from associations ranked 5th to 7th (Italy, Sweden, Czech Republic) will begin from the second round, while others, including Ukraine's representative, will start from the first round (or a preliminary round if necessary).

Vice-champions of the six strongest associations (France, Germany, Spain, England, Italy and Sweden) will start in the second round of the League Path.

Third-place finishers from these six associations, as well as second-place finishers from the next ten associations (Czech Republic, Denmark, Portugal, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Austria, Ukraine, Iceland, Belarus) will enter the first round of the League Path.
