The social project of the Ukrainian Football Association "Open Football Lessons" visited Cherkasy. The festival took place on the square of the Municipal Sports Club "Dnipro" for students of Vilschan Special School.

The event was organized and conducted by the Cherkasy Regional Football Association and the Municpal Sports Club "Dnipro" with support from the Cherkasy Oblast Department of Physical Education and Sport of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as representatives of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Cherkasy Oblast.

During the event, athletes and coaches from Municpal Sports Club "Dnipro" introduced children to the specifics of playing football, the children participated in various football relay races, and talked with police officers about safety during wartime.

After the festival, its participants were awarded diplomas by the Ukrainian Football Association. The school was also gifted equipment for further sports activities.

Local volunteers Yulia Lesko and Oksana Shytyk treated the children to tasty pizza, juice, and sweet cotton candy.

All participants thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to hold such wonderful events for children.

The project of the Ukrainian Football Association "Open Football Lessons" (Open Fun Football Schools) with support from UEFA is:

  • psychosocial support for children of military personnel, internally displaced persons, and those affected by war;
  • uniting and friendship between IDP children and local children, social integration;
  • inclusive environment, participation regardless of ability level or gender, as well as the involvement of children with special educational needs;
  • safety knowledge in wartime conditions;
  • philosophy of mass football - joy from playing rather than results at any cost;
  • nurturing a healthy lifestyle;
  • fostering volunteering;
  • activating local communities through intersectoral networks (teachers, coaches, psychologists, safety experts, parents, youth leaders, local authorities, benefactors, etc.).

All project events are held in regions with the approval of oblast military administrations.
