The blue-and-yellow team started in Group B with a confident victory over Belgium (10:2). Now, our team was hosting Poland in the Hungarian city of Berettyóújfalu.

At the beginning of the match, the white-and-red team played more aggressively, and Tsybun had to intervene regularly. However, in the middle of the first half, the Ukrainians took control, with Chernenko having two good opportunities. On the 11th minute, Korsun opened the score from a pass by Shoturma, and shortly after Pedias doubled the hosts' lead, finishing off Chernyenko's corner kick.

Then the Poles started to respond with their own chances, and on the 13th minute, Krezel scored from distance, reducing the deficit. Later in the game, Shoturma came close for Ukraine from a long-range shot near the post, but Farenyuk failed to beat the keeper in a close battle. However, both teams went into halftime tied at 2-2 after Kanyevsky's shot hit Tsybun and found its way into our team's goal.

In the second half, Ukraine had the upper hand initially; Kaluga made saves from shots by Zhuk and Shved. On the 27th minute, Poland responded with a two-on-one situation against Tsybun, but in the last moment Shoturma came to his rescue. Soon after, Chernyenko failed to beat the keeper from close range following an excellent pass by Zhuk.

On the 34th minute, Poland scored their third goal - Marek finished off Krezel's cross from a corner kick. Ukraine responded with a dangerous attempt by Shoturma, which Kaluga managed to save. The final minutes saw Ukraine playing against five Polish players but failed to change the scoreline — 2:3.

Twenty national teams are divided into five groups of four teams each. Matches will be played home and away. The top five group winners qualify for the CS-2024. Four second-placed teams with the best record advance to the elite round play-offs.

Four teams will be drawn into two pairs. Matches will be played home and away. The winners of the pairs qualify for CS-2024.

The World Championship will take place in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6, 2024.
