In the opening match of the UEFA Youth League group stage, Donetsk Shakhtar's U-19 team lost to Portuguese Porto.

The miners started their Champions League path with a nominal home game against Porto, which took place in Nordstadt, Germany. Unfortunately, Shakhtar suffered a heavy defeat — 1:4. The only goal for the Ukrainian side was scored by Oleh Pushkarov late in the match.

In the next UEFA Youth League match, the orange-and-black team will travel to play against Belgian Antwerp on October 4.
