During the Champions League final between «Manchester City» (Manchester, England) and «Inter» (Milan, Italy) on June 10 in Istanbul, an incident occurred when officials working at the stadium tried to take away a Ukrainian flag from a supporter of the English club.

The UAF clarified the circumstances of the incident with UEFA and received letters from Nyon signed by Deputy General Secretary Giorgio Marchetti, in which it is stated, among other things: «UEFA remains committed to supporting Ukrainian football during these dark times, and we sincerely hope that peace and sport will soon become your daily norm again.

As for the unfortunate incident in Istanbul, please be assured: this was an unjustified and ungrounded initiative of one of the local stadium stewards, which was immediately stopped after it became known to his higher-ups. Of course, we regret the painful feelings that this episode caused you, and will do everything possible to prevent such incidents from happening in the future».
