The U-16 Ukrainian national team lost to the home team in a penalty shootout at the UEFA Development Tournament in Slovakia.
The Ukrainian youth team (football players born in 2007 or later) started the UEFA Development Tournament in Slovakia with a match against the hosts.

On May 5, the wards of Volodymyr Yezersky began their training camp. The blue-and-yellow team prepared in Slovakia and then traveled to the UEFA Development Tournament. Our young players started with a match against the hosts, which took place in Senec.
Unlike other teams at the tournament, Ukraine conducted its first training session. Despite some imperfections in game connections, our boys did not yield to Slovakia and sometimes even dominated them. In the first half, there was an equal match with both teams having several chances. At the 25th minute, Stepanov put the blue-and-yellow team ahead by heading home Likholyt's cross.
In the second half, Ukraine missed a few opportunities to increase their lead. Instead, Slovakia managed to level the score — after a foul on Voloshin in the penalty area, Vlana converted the resulting penalty kick.
Ultimately, the winner was determined by a penalty shootout where Slovakia emerged stronger — 3:1. So the hosts earned two points while Ukraine got one point. The wards of Volodymyr Yezersky will play their next match on May 12 against Ireland.
