Artem Bondarenko: "Against teams like England, the first 15-20 minutes are always very difficult"

Semi-defender of the Ukraine national team Artem Bondarenko spoke about training of the national team at Wembley Stadium before the starting match in Euro 2024 qualification.

Completing preparation for the opening match in Euro 2024 qualifiers against England, on March 25, Ukraine's national team held a pre-match training session in London at Wembley Stadium. Now, the actual game is ahead of them.

About his impressions from practicing at one of the world's best arenas spoke semi-defender of Donetsk Shakhtar Artem Bondarenko.

"I am here for the first time on this stadium. Indeed, the arena is great. The field is in excellent condition, meaning all conditions are met to demonstrate quality play."

Of course, there's some nervousness before the match against England, as with any important game. But I hope that once the game starts, this will pass. It’s normal for a football player to feel nervous; otherwise, why play? Our preparation for the encounter was at the highest level, and the actual match will show the result of our work. I hope it will be a good game.

England is a very powerful team. We all know what this national team represents. This is a top team, playing against which will be very difficult, so we need to give everything and demonstrate our best football. Against such teams the first 15-20 minutes are always extremely challenging; I think this match won't be an exception either. But mentally and physically, we are ready," — said Artem Bondarenko.

We remind you that the Euro 2024 qualifier match between England and Ukraine will take place today in London (kickoff at 19:00 Kyiv time).
