The year that passed began for Oleksandr Kosenko's wards with preparations for the final tournament of Euro-2022. In January, home friendlies against Kazakhstan were planned; however, due to the introduction of a state of emergency in the country, their opponents did not have the opportunity to travel to Ukraine on the scheduled dates. Instead, within the framework of the National Team Camp held in Bucha, the blue and yellow team played against Sky Up.

After this, the Ukrainian national team traveled to the Netherlands, where they started their participation in the European Championship with a loss to the hosts. Then our boys managed to defeat Serbia and lost to Portugal, but still secured second place in the group and advanced to the knockout stage.

On the sixth attempt, Ukraine's national team finally succeeded in advancing past the quarter-finals at Euro championships by defeating Kazakhstan. However, it was not possible for Oleksandr Kosenko’s wards to win medals — they lost to a country of aggression and Spain in decisive matches. We note that Kirill Tzipun made it into the symbolic all-star team of the best players of the final stage of Euro-2022.

After this, our team switched to qualifying for the 2024 World Cup, where they began their battle from the main round. Prior to that, in September, Ukrainians traveled to Moldova, where they played two friendlies against the hosts and one — against Romania. In conclusion, blue and yellow won the Three Nations Cup.

Due to Russia's military invasion, Ukraine’s national team hosted their opponents for the main round of the 2024 World Cup qualification in Latvia. The start proved successful — a victory over Kosovo and revenge against the Netherlands. We note that players and coaches from the Ukrainian national handball team decided to direct their prize money towards purchasing off-road vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In November, blue and yellow already defeated Kosovo in Pristina. Currently, they confidently lead the group and practically guaranteed themselves a place in the elite round of qualification. The final match of the main round our team will play away against the Netherlands on March 8, 2023.

We note that in 2022, 13 players scored for Ukraine's national handball team, and Igor Korsun was the top scorer with eight goals.
