Today, reports appeared in the media about allegedly preparing to hold an extraordinary Congress of the Ukrainian Football Association on December 20, 2022. However, this information does not reflect reality.

We remind you that the next regular XXV Congress of the Ukrainian Football Association was scheduled for March 5, 2022. However, due to the full-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation and the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, the Executive Committee of the UFA adopted a decision to postpone the XXV regular congress and determine its date after the cancellation of martial law in Ukraine.

In addition, on September 5, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv issued a ruling prohibiting the UAF from taking actions regarding the preparation, holding, and consideration of issues on the agenda of the XXV regular congress of the UAF concerning the election of the president of the UAF, first vice-presidents, vice-presidents, members of the Executive Committee, and the audit body.

Thus, as of today, the holding of the next XXV regular Congress of the UAF is possible only after the cancellation of martial law in Ukraine and a court injunction on such actions.

The calling and holding of an extraordinary congress are regulated by Article 19 of the Statute of the UFA, which contains requirements regarding the deadlines and terms for convening and holding such a congress. In particular, it is provided that the administration sends written notice to members of the UAF about convening an extraordinary congress no later than fifty days before the established date of its holding.

Thus, in order to avoid challenging decisions by the highest governing body of the UFA and possible sanctions from FIFA and UEFA (including suspension of membership in these organizations and banning Ukrainian teams from participating in their competitions), convening and holding a meeting of the highest governing body of the UAF is possible only strictly adhering to the norms of the Statute of the UFA, requirements of statutory documents of FIFA and UEFA.
