The first match of the tournament for the blue-and-yellow team was against Switzerland — the seventh-ranked team in the world.

The first period started poorly for Yurii Klimenko's players. Swiss goalkeeper Kristin Scherrer managed to score past Anastasiia Teresh. However, three minutes later Irina Dubitska leveled the score with a precise shot from behind the goal — 1:1. But just one minute before the end of the first period Sara García scored again from a corner kick — 2:1.

The start of the second twelve-minute period was good news for us — Yuliia Deytchar scored with a long-range shot — 2:2. Moreover, on the eighteenth minute Anastasiia Teresh fired from midfield into the net and Ukraine took the lead — 3:2. However, the opponent did not give up and Pascal Kühfner equalized just one minute later — 3:3.

In the third period, the scales tipped again in favor of Switzerland. First, a bad bounce off the sand allowed Scherrer to score her second goal, followed shortly by García's bicycle kick — 5:3.
