The first round opponent of the blue-and-yellow team was England. The first period generally saw an even battle, and our highly-titled rivals, who hold third place in the BSWW world ranking, only managed to score once against us. Goalkeeper Hannah Houghton stood out for England.

In the second 12-minute segment, a pretty defensive mistake led to Katie James scoring a goal, and just a minute later Molly Clark scored with a beautiful shot right into the top corner — 3:0. After that, the teams exchanged goals by Mariia Tychonova and Rebecca Burrone.

In the final period, two more goals were scored by Connie Short and Hannah Houghton. So in the end, it was a 6:1 victory for England.
