The presentation of the psychological support project for children and youth through sports, "Pobuch," took place at the Spartak Arena in Zhivertsi on June 14.
The project will be implemented throughout the region by the Zhytomyr Oblast Football Association under the initiative and support of the charitable fund "Development of Football in Ukraine" in partnership with the Ukrainian Football Association and UEFA's Children's Fund.
Recovery through sports is a new direction of the joint project between MОН and UNICEF-POBUCH, aimed at providing psychosocial support to children, youth, and families affected by war.
During the presentation of the project, Ruslan Mayevskyi, executive director of the oblast football association, noted that starting from mid-June, parents will be able to bring their children to sports fields in the city and region where psychologists, physical education teachers, and medical volunteers will work with them through play.
Sports fields will be divided into zones where children will alternately engage with a psychologist, then play active games with a football ball, and finally, medical volunteers will explain and demonstrate what to do in case of injuries.
In Zhytomyr, the project will be implemented with the support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Zhytomyr City Council, while in other cities and villages of the oblast — with the support of the National-Patriotic Education, Youth and Sports Department of the Zhytomyr ODA.
The first session, for which a group of girls and boys aged 6 to 16 has already been registered, will take place in Zhytomyr on June 16. The duration of the event is one hour and forty minutes.
