Tuesday, June 15, marks the start of a new European cup season for Ukraine with the draw for the second qualifying round of the Champions League (13:00 Kyiv time) and the Conference League (14:00), where Dynamo Kyiv and Vorzel will participate respectively.

According to the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee regarding the premature termination of matches in the Ukrainian Premier League for the 2021/2022 season and the approval of the league table as of February 24, 2022, Ukraine's entry into European competitions for the 2022/2023 season has been established.

As before, five clubs will represent our association on an international stage. However, according to the 12th place in UEFA’s coefficient ranking as of spring 2021, there are changes regarding starting positions.

The club that held first place in the UPL table on February 24, Shakhtar Donetsk, was originally scheduled to start in the Champions League play-off round. However, due to Russia's disqualification and Real Madrid’s victory in the Europa League, the miners received a bye straight into the group stage.

The second-placed club, Dynamo Kyiv, will enter the second qualifying round of the Champions League. To reach the Champions League group stage, they must overcome three opponents. At the starting stage, among their potential opponents are either Turkish Fenerbahçe or Cypriot AEL Limassol. In case of failure at any stage, our representative will move to the Europa League, but only if they manage to defeat one opponent in the Champions League. Otherwise, they will have to go through qualification for both competitions.

The third-ranked club, Dnipro-1, considering the suspension of the Vbet Cup season 2021/2022, will represent Ukraine in the Europa League — in the play-off round. In case of failure in the play-off round of the Europa League, they automatically move to the group stage of the Conference League.

In the basic registration for the Conference League, the country will have two delegates. The fourth team in the UPL (Zorya) will start in the third qualifying round, while the fifth («Vorzel») — in the second. Thus, our clubs need to overcome two and three opponents respectively to reach the main draw of the Conference League.
