The Ukrainian youth team is awaiting today's Euro 2023 (U-21) qualifier match against the North Macedonia national team.
The meeting will start at 8:45 PM Istanbul time at the «Esenyurt Nedim Kadioglu» arena, where the local club «Istanbulspor» plays (capacity for 4,500 spectators). Entry for viewers is free. The live broadcast will take place on channel «Football 2» and on the YouTube channel of the UAF.
After the match with the Faroe Islands, the Ukrainian youth team had to make another 15-hour journey to reach Turkey.
Regarding personnel issues, Roman Didik suffered an ankle injury during the game against the islanders. And now only two central defenders remain fit — Maxim Taloviyev and Anton Bol. Therefore, defender Valeriy Dubko of Lugansk «Zorya» was urgently called up.
Yesterday, the coaching staff of the Ukrainian team reviewed the match against the Faroe Islands with the players, and theoretical training on the topic of the upcoming match against North Macedonia took place.
It should be noted that under Rostan's guidance, guaranteeing at least second place in the group table, there are still chances to secure first place, although second position may also prove golden depending on certain scenarios.
We remind you that 16 teams will participate in the final stage of Euro 2023 (U-21) — Romania and Georgia as hosts of the tournament plus 14 qualifiers joining them based on group winners (nine group winners, the best team among second-place finishers, and four playoff winners from eight second-place teams).
