Semi-defender of the national team of Ukraine, Ruslan Malinovskiy, who scored a goal in the match against Scotland (3:1), commented on the team's qualification to the final round of the 2022 World Cup:

— I believe that we played very well in the first half, created several good opportunities, scored a beautiful goal. We were leading and the second goal really helped us. Of course, after that we sat back a bit. There were some losses of possession in midfield, which led to counterattacks by the opposition. But we handled it very well. Yes, we conceded, but nothing terrible happened. We scored at the end, won, and most importantly — we got the result. I also want to note that we showed a very high level of football.

— The Scots got carried away after scoring…

— After the first half, we knew what would happen if we conceded. We saw how the crowd was pushing the hosts forward. We felt this atmosphere. I want to note that it was fantastic and our supporters on the stands were amazing. This victory is for all Ukrainians, for those who are at the forefront now. We are with them. But so far, we have done 50% of the job. The most important thing — the next match.

— The game against Wales is on June 5th. The most important thing now — is to recover?

— I think there won't be any problems with recovery. Today, I played for 70 minutes, and if you look at it from my perspective, this was like a high-intensity training session. Those who played the full 90 minutes are more tired.

— Our supporters called Andriy Yarmolenko «Man of the Match». What do you have to say about this?

— He energizes the team, keeps everyone on edge, and helps everyone. He plays little in his club but gives everything emotionally for the national team. Of course, I want to congratulate Andriy. If he scores and becomes «Man of the Match» in the next match, I will also be very happy. Happy for him and today's victory. Onward to Wales!
