The day before tomorrow's CH-2026 qualifier match Iceland — Ukraine (Reykjavik, 21:45 Kyiv time), the head coach of our opponent Arnar Gunnlaugsson spoke to the media.
"The Ukrainian national team has many talented footballers who have experience playing against various European and world teams. They have a defender whose name I cannot pronounce, but he is very expensive. We respect our opponent."
I remember Andriy Shevchenko. He was a very skilled player and coach. As for Serhiy Rebrov, I don't know him personally, but I follow his career; he is a talented coach.
This is a top team and they are higher than us in the FIFA world ranking. Perhaps the match against Azerbaijan was not very successful, but that happens. I hope we will take advantage of Ukraine being in less than their best form," — Gunnlaugsson noted among other things.
