September 30, Ukraine's U-20 national team played their second match at the World Cup in Chile — against Panama. Compared to the opening game against South Korea (2:1), the coaching staff made one change: Maxym Derkach replaced Artur Shakh on the left wing.

Just like in the debut match, Ukraine managed to score a quick goal again. As early as the 3rd minute, Panama's defender Martin Kruk committed a foul on Oleksandrov Pyszur in their own penalty area. Initially, Pyszur took the penalty kick himself but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper. However, the goalkeeper left the line after the whistle, so the referee ordered a retake. This time, Gennadiy Synchuk stepped up and confidently converted the 11-meter spot-kick. 0:1.

Despite conceding the goal, Panama continued to play defensively, focusing on counterattacks. Their chance came in the 36th minute when Volder evaded pressure on the right flank and delivered a cross; Herrera outmaneuvered Melnychenko with his head and sent the ball into the net. 1:1.

The start of the second half was once again more active for Ukraine, with even central defenders joining in attacking plays. For example, Kirychuk missed a bit of accuracy. Added sharpness came from players who entered as substitutes; Vashchenko attempted a long-range shot, and Shakh had a great opportunity following a cross by Dytiahr but let the ball go past the goalkeeper.

Despite all their efforts, Ukraine could not score again. In the end, it was a draw — 1:1. After two matches, Ukraine's U-20 team has four points in total. Their next match will be on Friday, October 3 against Paraguay (kickoff at 23:00).
