Today, September 3rd, the Ukraine U-17 national team (players born in or after 2009) played their first match at an international tournament in Croatia.

The blue-and-yellow team, as part of their preparation for Euro 2026 qualification (U-17), faced the Qatar U-18 national team. Coach Oleksandr Sitnik's players capitalized on their first clear opportunity. In the 15th minute, after a corner kick from Andriy Hamzyk, Bohdan Levytskyi directed the ball into the net of the Qatari goalkeepers. However, at the 28-minute mark, opponents managed to equalize. Zaid Ktit scored with a powerful shot from a penalty spot, making it 1:1. The teams exchanged sharp attacks until halftime but failed to score again.

Immediately after halftime, the Ukrainian coach almost completely changed the lineup. The Qatar team immediately created two excellent opportunities, but our goalkeeper Oleksandr Stepanov played well. The Ukrainians responded with a dangerous corner kick from the left flank. The decisive moment in the match came at the 80th minute. Defenders of the Ukraine national team made a mistake in the central zone, and this brought victory to the Qatar team — 2:1.

The next match for the blue-and-yellow team will be on September 6 against Poland U-18 (kickoff at 4:00 PM).
