Head Coach

The Denmark U-21 national team is coached by local specialist — 52-year-old Steffen Hojer, who spent most of his career with the club «Viborg» from his hometown. Initially as a player (1992–1996, 1999, 2000–2003, 2005–2007), then in various positions within the club's system (2008–2019). He won the Danish championship (1999) and three times was named the top scorer of the Danish league (2004, 2005, 2006); he played one match for Denmark's national team in 1996.

From 2019 to 2022 Hojer worked as an assistant under two coaches with the Denmark U-21 squad and took over the helm in January 2023, leading them to qualify for Euro 2025 (U-21).

Leader

The most star-studded player of Denmark's U-21 squad is forward Conrad Garder, whose contract the Portuguese «Sporting» acquired from «Nordsjaelland» at the start of the 2024/2025 season for €19 million.

Garder, who turned 20 in April 2025, scored nine goals in 41 matches across all official tournaments for his home club and eleven goals in 47 matches for «Sporting». Garder won the Portuguese league and cup titles during the 2024/2025 season.

In Denmark's U-21 squad, the forward played only three games in autumn 2024, while making his debut for the national team in March 2025 in a UEFA Nations League quarter-final against Portugal.

At Euro 2025 (U-21), Garder will compete with veteran Denmark youth player and top scorer from the previous cycle — 23-year-old Matias Kvistgaard, who also made his debut for the national team on June 7, 2025.

Path to Euro 2025 (U-21)

Denmark qualified for the final stage of Euro 2025 (U-21) by winning their qualifying group I. The team won five out of eight matches, earning 17 points and finishing ahead of Czech Republic and Wales (both with 14).
