Ukraine women's amputee football team heads to first-ever World Cup
The Ukrainian team will participate in the first-ever Women's Amputee Football World Cup. This historic event marks a significant milestone in developing adaptive and women's football.
Ahead of their departure, the President of the Ukrainian Association of Football, Andriy Shevchenko, visited the team to personally congratulate the athletes and offer them support at this pivotal moment.

“This championship is more than just matches. It is a valuable international experience for you. Remember, the atmosphere within the team and your belief in each other are paramount. We all believe in you and will provide continuous support for our newly-formed women's amputee football team,” Andriy Shevchenko said to the players.

Additionally, the UAF Women’s and Girls’ Football Committee, led by its new head Anastasiya Klipachenko, organized a team-building session to strengthen the squad’s spirit and motivation ahead of the important matches.

“Our story with the women's amputee football team begins at the World Cup. We feel deeply connected to such social projects and are honored to support them moving forward. By participating in this tournament, our resilient women show the world that we not only have a team but also ambitious plans and projects, and that we will never give up, no matter how difficult the times are in Ukraine. It is an honor to initiate this meeting through my public organization Path of a Champion,” said Anastasiya Klipachenko during her meeting with the players.

The Blue and Yellow team, coached by Dmytro Rzhondkovskyi, prepared for the competition in Zolotonosha, Cherkasy region. The first Women's World Cup will be hosted by the Colombian city of Barranquilla from November 4 to 10. Today, the Ukrainian delegation has set off for the tournament. Ukraine has been drawn into Group C, where they will face Ecuador, USA, and Nigeria.
