Ihor Korsun: "We gained confidence and positive emotions after the Angola game"

Ihor Korsun, who scored a double for Ukraine in their 7:2 victory over Angola at the Futsal World Cup 2024 and was named the best player of the match by FIFA, reflects on the game.

The interview with the player is provided by the Futsal Association of Ukraine.

— What is it like for you to play in the World Cup, score a double, and be named the best player of the match?

— These are wonderful emotions. The most important thing is that we won today because many people were expecting this victory from us. I believe we achieved that and gave our homeland and our defenders — the Armed Forces of Ukraine — some positive emotions in these difficult times.

— After the match against Argentina, there was tension in the locker room. After this game, it seems like that unpleasant atmosphere has eased a bit...

— That’s true. It’s sports. It was very disappointing to lose to Argentina, but we are picking ourselves up and moving forward. After the game with Angola, we gained confidence and, more importantly, positive emotions. With that, we will continue moving forward.

— Your wife posted in her stories that you promised your daughter to score two goals and give a greeting to the camera. Is that true?

— Yes. Before the game, I spoke with my wife and daughter and told them I would score and give a kiss to the camera.

— Did you promise two goals?

— Well, maybe she exaggerated a bit about the two goals. But I did say I would score and give a kiss, and that’s true.
