Futsal World Cup 2024: Ukraine cruises to a convincing win against Angola

In their second match of the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 final tournament, Ukraine’s national futsal team secured a confident victory over Angola.

After suffering a heavy defeat to Argentina (1:7) in the opening match, the Blue and Yellows looked to redeem themselves today in Tashkent against the African side. Ukraine started the game with intensity, regularly testing the Angolan goalkeeper. Zhuk and Korsun had particularly good chances. Angola also managed to create some opportunities, but Ukrainian goalkeeper Sukhov stood firm. In the 7th minute, Zhuk earned a penalty and successfully converted it.

Gomitu saved Angola multiple times before Korsun found the net, capitalizing on a throw-in assist from Semenchenko. Shortly after, Korsun doubled his tally with an assist from Farenyuk. Before halftime, Angola pulled one back through a solo effort from Elber and then created a few more dangerous chances.

Early in the second half, Chiku hit the crossbar, to which Ukraine responded with another chance from Korsun. In the 26th minute, Melnyk scored directly from a set-piece, and shortly after, Zvarych increased the lead from an Abakshyn pass. Ukraine’s sixth goal came from a corner kick, with Chernyavskyi finishing from a Shved assist. In the final minute, both teams exchanged goals — Shved finished a Chernyavskyi pass for Ukraine.

Thus, Oleksandr Kosenko’s team claimed a convincing 7:2 victory. Ukraine will face Afghanistan in their next match on September 21 in Andijan.
